Our Story
Susrutha Ayurvedic Ano-Rectal Hospital was founded in 1986 by Prof. Dr. B. SatyaNarayana with one purpose: to provide specialized Ayurvedic care for ano-rectal disorders.

Over four decades, it has grown into a centre dedicated exclusively to this specialty. More than one lakh patients have been treated here. Our work includes complex and recurrent cases, such as high anal fistulas and recto-vaginal fistulas, where individualized planning and long-term follow-up matter most.

Our Approach
Our treatment is rooted in the classical principles of Ayurvedic Shalyatantra and supported by contemporary diagnostics. We interpret Ayurvedic descriptions of disease alongside modern medical understanding, so that every treatment decision rests on an accurate assessment.

Each patient’s care begins with a detailed clinical examination. Where needed, we follow it with investigations such as sonography or MRI. The treatment plan then depends on the nature, severity and complexity of the condition, and may include

Ksharasutra Therapy: An Ayurvedic Legacy

Ksharasutra is a medicated seton prepared according to traditional Ayurvedic methods and used mainly to treat anal fistula. It has been practised in India for centuries. The late Prof. Dr. P. J. Deshpande revived, modified and standardized it for systematic clinical use, and it now draws interest well beyond India.

At Susrutha, decades of experience with Ksharasutra are combined with careful diagnosis and individualized treatment planning.

Our Leadership

The hospital is headed by Prof. Dr. B. SatyaNarayana, Retired Professor & HOD, PG Department of Shalyatantra, Dr. B.R.K.R. Government Ayurvedic Medical College, Hyderabad (Department of AYUSH, Government of Telangana).

He served the Government of Telangana for about 32 years as Medical Officer, Assistant Professor, Associate Professor and Professor. He has more than 40 years of clinical experience in ano-rectal diseases. He has promoted Ksharasutra therapy through state and national workshops and academic programmes.

As an academician, he has guided numerous postgraduate scholars. He has also served as an examiner for:
